Real employers do not require applicants to risk their money, identity, or safety.
Warning signs
Be cautious of requests to pay for a job, deposit a check and return money, buy gift cards, reship packages, share banking passwords, provide identity documents through unverified channels, or interview only through anonymous messaging.
Verify before sharing
Confirm the company website, email domain, recruiter identity, work location, pay, duties, and interview process. Do not send Social Security, banking, or tax information until a legitimate employment step requires it.
Report concerns
Use the contact page and select “Report a scam,” email info@empleohispano.com, or call 1-888-EL-EMPLEO. Preserve messages, names, phone numbers, email addresses, and payment requests.
Immediate risk
Contact local law enforcement for immediate danger. Report identity theft to IdentityTheft.gov and suspected internet crime to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center.
